Alyssa Hamm, MS

Research Assistant

About

Alyssa is a Cleveland native who started at Case Western Reserve University in July of 2023. Alyssa completed her bachelor’s degree in biology from the College of Wooster in 2020 and her master’s degree in biological sciences from the University of Cincinnati in June 2023. As an evolutionary geneticist, she loves learning about how organisms adapt to their environment, how this impacts their genome, and the impact on the expression of genes. Currently, Alyssa is using a new technique to characterize the gene expression of single cells in the oral microbiome to better understand the microbial interactions that contribute to aggressive periodontitis. Outside of the lab, Alyssa spends her time knitting, crocheting, and taking care of her plants and fish.
